About this Session
While Broadway Sessions is about performers getting up and singing a song that means something to them, or perhaps one they may not otherwise have an opportunity to sing, for November we decided to change it up a little.
This month is all about singing songs our audience wants sung – a ‘Broadway Sessions Wishlist’ as such. We’re tasking our fans with the role of suggesting songs that they think Adelaide performers should sing, by posting on social media with the hashtag #broadwaysessionswishlist. Of course, you can register to sing something you want to sing – we don’t want to take what makes Broadway Sessions away from you – but we’re looking for as much audience participation with forming this month’s programme as possible.

Ellis Dolan is currently touring with the company of 'School of Rock' as an Understudy for Dewey Finn and as a Swing – recently returning from a four-month tour of China. He spent 2017 studying Musical Theatre at NIDA; appearing in the Sydney Theatre Company production of Chimerica as part of the NIDA Ensemble.
He has appeared in several productions around Adelaide, including Evita (The Met) in which he portrayed Che; The Producers (HMC) as the Stormtrooper; Oliver! (Shane Davidson Presents) as Bill Sykes; as well as ensemble roles in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (HMC) and Jesus Christ Superstar (G&S Society). Off-stage, he acted as Assistant Director for You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown and Smokey Joe's Cafe (HMC).
He also toured across Australia, portraying the role of Peter Dutton, as part of Abbott: The Musical (George Glass Productions), performing as part of the Canberra Comedy Festival and Melbourne International Comedy Festival, as well as a sell-out run in the Adelaide Fringe Festival.
Outside of performing, Ellis is a writer – having completed his Honours in Creative Arts: Creative Writing at Flinders University. He’s currently struggling through the first draft of a novel and is constantly side-tracked by wanting to write reviews and film analysis; because of this, nothing seems to get done, but he has a lot of fun doing it.
He made his directorial debut with Edges as part of the 2018 Adelaide Fringe Festival and loved every second of working with such fine people.
Adam has been involved in the theatrical scene for many years. He is a co-founder of SINGular Productions and produced I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change (Fringe Festival, 2007), Elegies: A Song Cycle, Different Fields and It’s a Dad Thing: The Musical. He is currently developing a new Australian opera with State Opera of South Australia titled, Innocence. Adam recently performed the role of Father in Davine Productions' Violet in 2017 Adelaide Fringe.
Andrew James Crispe
Andrew is an established freelance performer and vocal coach who has performed professionally in and around Adelaide. He has been a member of the State Opera of SA’s Chorus since 2009. Andrew‘s first foray into the world of Music Theatre was in 2000, when he was encouraged to audition for the Gilbert & Sullivan Society’s back-to-back production of HMS Pinafore and Trial By Jury, and since then he has not looked back!
Andrew won his first leading role in 2006, and has gone on to play a large number of leading and supporting roles throughout Adelaide’s community theatre. Andrew has been nominated for Best Male Performance by the Critics Circle Awards for his role as Don Lockwood in Singin’ In The Rain, and by the Adelaide Theatre Guide for the same role, as well as his portrayal of The Beast in Disney's Beauty And The Beast. For one of his most recent productions Andrew won the TASA Best Male Performance Award for his portrayal of Edward Bloom in BIG FISH – a show which also won the TASA MusiCal Award. Andrew co-wrote and performed in the sold-out season of Villain-Ville: A Musical Exploration of Villainy and Evil in the 2015 Fringe Festival. His most recent appearances this year include a return to the role of Curly McLain (for the third time) in an outdoor production of Oklahoma (On A Farm) with Emma Knights Productions, The Preacher in Davine Interventionz production of Violet, a return to the role of the Major General in Emma Knights Productions’ fourth season of Pirates On The Popeye, and lastly as Pontius Pilate in Jesus Christ Superstar.
Andrew played the role of Marius in both seasons of Les Misérables with the Gilbert & Sullivan’s Society in 2008 and 2009, and he is overjoyed to be coming back for yet another season with them only this time as the infamous Javert – a role he has coveted since he was little!
Anne has been performing in theatre for many years; her most recent roles being with The G&S Society playing Hebe in G&S Fest’s Pinafore, Mrs Medlock in The Secret Garden, The Duchess of Plaza Toro in Gondoliers, Domina in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and Ensemble in Les Misérables. Favourite roles over the years are Jennifer in Paint Your Wagon and Mrs Winthrop in The Secret Garden with Therry, Cecily in The Importance of Being Ernest, Ellie Dunn in Heartbreak House, Paquette in Candide with Independent Theatre and Gwendoline in Ernest in Love with Mayfair. Fun facts: My Fair Lady is Anne’s all-time favourite musical, having played Eliza with The Hills Musical Company 23 years ago – which, coincidentally was both the first and last time she worked onstage with her friend Adam Goodburn.
Brady is passionate about the arts, both as a performer and a teacher. He recently returned from a two year stint in London where he played Don Lockwood in Singin' in the Rain for MMT, earning him a NODA award nomination, and Jack in Reefer Madness for SEDOS. Back home, Brady has performed the roles of Emmett Forrest in Legally Blonde for HMC, Bobby Child in Therry’s award winning production of Crazy for You (ATG nomination), Willard Hewitt in MBM’s Footloose (ATG Award), Link Larkin in Hairspray (MBM), Robert Martin in The Drowsy Chaperone (HMC) and Will Parker in Oklahoma! (MS Society). Brady also played Matthew in Altar Boyz (Davine Interventionz) and appeared in Homemade Fusion as part of the Adelaide Fringe Festival. It’s been 10 years since Brady sang Mama Says in Footloose and he is thrilled to perform on home soil again at Broadway Sessions this month!
Buddy is a high school drama teacher who loves to perform. He has worked with a number of amateur theatre companies in Adelaide and has played many over-the-top characters (whilst breaking many bones in the process).
Catherine established a passion for performing arts in Adelaide, appearing in multiple amateur productions including Jo March in Little Women (Therry Dramatic Society 2013), Eponine in Les Misérables (Shane Davidson Presents 2012), Tammy in Hairspray (Matt Byrne Media 2012) and Pegeen in The Playboy of the Western World (Independent Theatre Inc 2013). Catherine then moved to Melbourne in 2014 to pursue musical theatre full time at APO Arts Academy.
During her 2 year training, she landed her first professional gig in Spiegelicious and in 2015 was a semi-finalist in the Rob Guest Endowment. Since graduating Catherine has appeared in numerous TVCs and local musical theatre productions in Melbourne. In 2017 she performed the role of Maureen in WMTC’s production of RENT and in October 2018 she performed the role of Emma Carew in CLOC’s production of Jekyll and Hyde.
Catherine joined the corporate trio The Cover Girls in 2017 and regularly performs with them on various cruise ships around Australia. Catherine last performed at Broadway Sessions in November 2016 and is thrilled to be back thanks to COVID19 forcing her so isolate back home in Adelaide for the time being!
One of Chloe's earliest memories is twirling and singing in an Adelaide Crows football guernsey. Following this passion, she landed her first professional role in the touring production of Turandot in 2008, as well as starring as Ariel in the 2013 Australian premiere of The Little Mermaid. Chloe loved being part of Big Dreams – a 2019 Book Week show.
Throughout her time at WAAPA, Chloe has had the opportunity to play Cora in Atlantis (Matthew Robinson. Workshop) and Diane Lorimer in 42nd Street (dir. Jason Langley) as well as being a featured soloist in both Rent (dir. Adam Mitchell) and Chicago (dir. Crispin Taylor). Chloe filmed Vivid ‘magination, a music video with WASA where she played female lead Drew which was released in 2018.
Most recently Chloe returned from performing in Disney’s PJ Masks live show in Singapore with Marilla productions.
Damien is no stranger to the stage, and has been regularly performing, singing and playing music since childhood. His introduction to musical theatre came when he was dragged along to an audition for The Wedding Singer by his older sister at the age of 13. This inspired a new passion, and Damien looked to maximise performing opportunities throughout high school, where he played Bugsy in Bugsy Malone and was involved in various solo and ensemble music performances.
After finishing high school in 2012, Damien re-entered the theatre with gusto, and has been a frequent performer ever since. Damien is part of the five-star award-nominated cabaret group 'The Bailey Beaus' created by Vintage Vendetta Productions, and has been fortunate to perform many interesting roles in well-known shows, including Mark in RENT, Doody in Grease, George in The Wedding Singer, and The Historian in Spamalot, as well as roles in Les Misérables, Oliver, The Sound of Music, Calamity Jane, and Catch Me If You Can.
I have two arms and feet. But my feet are not at the end of my arms. That would just be plain silly. I like to sing, especially in other people's showers. But not while showering - that would just be weird. I have been singing since before fire, but not long after the wheel. I trained under a number of singing teachers but as a result of claustrophobia I found it better to stand next them instead. As a child I would spontaneously sing in class, as an accountant I would spontaneously sing in the office. I was soon sent back to class. I love chocolate.
Growing up performing in the Scouts’ Gang Show: Comedy Capers, David developed a love for musical theatre from a young age. Trained at the Centre for the Performing Arts; David has enjoyed performing Shakespeare with the State Theatre, Lightning Strike and Chopt Logic Theatre Companies and has toured in the past with Splash Theatre Company. Turning from professional acting to focus his energy on his family and work for the Anglican Church as a priest, David chooses to do shows that he loves.
It was in Marie Clark's production of Paris in the titular role that David hit the Adelaide scene in musical theatre. David has since performed with Marie Clark Musical Theatre in Miss Saigon (John) and as Carl Hanratty in the 2016 production of Catch Me if You Can. He has worked with Northern Light Theatre Company as Frederick in Pirates of Penzance and Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors. David also performed at the Adelaide Fringe Festival in 2015 with Lazy Saturday Productions' Australian premiere of Darkle. 2017 was a big year of theatre for David starting with Pale Ale Tales, a new work by local writer, Jason Hendy in the 2017 Adelaide Fringe, Jekyll and Hyde with Marie Clark and finishing with Les Misérables as Enjolras with G&S Society. Most recently David performed with the Hills Musical Company in Assassins as John Wilkes Booth.
David is thankful to his wife for her love and support, and for letting him play.
When David is not performing in local musical theatre and cabaret, you can catch him busking at Adelaide's beaches and surrounding suburbs with his ukulele, performing puppets for children, and enjoying singalongs at old folks homes. His recent credits include playing Peter Allen in the Met's Boy from Oz, Princeton in Matt Byrne Media's Avenue Q. as well as leads in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels for Opus, Little Shop of Horrors for Northern Light Theatre Company, and the local cabaret showcases Sing on Through Tomorrow and Homemade Fusion.
David recently played the role of Denny Doherty in the Davine Interventionz sell out season production of Flowerchildren – The Mamas and Papas Story after performing in Davine's 2013 production of Altar Boyz.
Elle Nichelle is a private vocal coach, singer, choir director and songwriter in Adelaide. She graduated the Elder Conservatorium of Music in 2009 with a Diploma in Jazz Voice. Elle has performed as a lead vocalist with Gospo since their first show in the Adelaide Fringe Festival: GospoCentric & GospoTivity (2009), GospoAzz (2010-2011), Gospolicious (2014), Gospolation in both the Adelaide & Melbourne Fringe Festivals (2017) and Jackson vs Jackson (2018 & 2019).
Elle loves being involved in theatre: her roles thus far include being a lead vocalist in Smokey Joe’s Café - Hills Musical Company (2016), Crystal in Little Shop of Horrors - Blackwood Players (2017) & Fortune Teller in Side Show - Hills Musical Company (2018). Most recently, Elle toured Buffy Kills Edward with Emma Knights Productions playing the role of Buffy for the 2018 Melbourne Fringe Festival & again at the Adelaide Fringe Festival in 2019. Elle has a keen interest in voice therapy and currently studies Speech Pathology at Flinders University.
Eloise Quinn-Valentine is known in the Adelaide musical theatre community by a number of names including 'Eloise QV', and the more enigmatic 'Boise Q'. Eloise has performed in musicals, plays, in choirs and at events around Adelaide with companies such as Davine Productions, Adelaide Conservatorium Chorale, University of Adelaide Theatre Guild, Independent Theatre, Therry Dramatic Society and Young Adelaide Voices. She also took up the opportunity to perform the role of Betty in The Crucible while on exchange at Royal Holloway, University of London in 2017.
Recent highlights include playing Vivie Warren in Mrs Warren's Profession (Independent Theatre), Phaedra in Jerusalem (University of Adelaide Theatre Guild), Sister Sophia in an immersive production of The Sound of Music (Emma Knights Productions), Young Violet in Violet: A Musical (Davine Productions), and in Its Only Life (Davine Productions, ft. John Bucchino), and Betty/Carole cover in Davine Productions' sold-out season of Beautiful - The Carole King Musical.
As well as loving to tell stories on stage, Eloise recently completed her Honours in English Literature at Flinders University.
Born into a family with a background in the performing arts, Emma has been immersed in the world of theatre ever since she can remember. Her introduction to Adelaide amateur theatre came when she joined the ensemble of G&S’s Oliver! in both 2013 and 2014, and was involved in the society’s production of Thoroughly Modern Millie in 2016. In 2017, Emma fulfilled her lifelong dream to perform the role of Cosette in Les Misérables, also with G&S, and in 2019 joined the cast of Therry's The Pirates of Penzance as Edith. Emma graduated from her Bachelor of Arts at Adelaide University in 2019.
Fiona has an Honours degree in performance from Flinders University Drama Centre. She has appeared on television and on stage both professionally, here and interstate and as part of the Adelaide Amateur Theatre community. She has worked in several aspects of theatre from performer to choreographer to director. Maureen from RENT is a dream role in a show she has loved since she was 14 and received the original Broadway album and was privileged enough to see the original Australian production.
Iman has been a musician for 10 years playing bass in several local bands throughout that time and also having completed a diploma in music. Always having a natural knack for the arts he always wanted to explore the side of acting and dancing, and was given the opportunity in 2015 when he first entered the Adelaide musical theatre scene in JamaeRaws adaptation of the musical Grease, portraying the role of Danny Zuko. He has since been in Wicked (Matt Byrne Media) and Anything Goes (JamaeRaw) playing Moonface Martin and most recently MBM's Saturday Night Fever as Bobby C. Iman has been enjoying his experiences and developing his stage skills and is excited to see where it will take him.
Originally from the US, Jeri Williams immigrated to Adelaide in 2011. She’s a born performer, growing up singing in choirs, glee club, a pop/R&B girl group, and musical theatre. She got her start in theatre performing in the ensemble of How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying at age 16. After school, Jeri got a job singing in an acapella group at a theme park in Florida, which led to being cast as Wendy Darling by Disney Cruise Line. Jeri spent her early 20s working and performing on various cruise ships with her husband.
Since making Adelaide her home, Jeri has delved into the local theatre scene on a few occasions, being cast in leading roles in NLTC’s Into The Woods (2012) as the Baker’s Wife; G&SSA’s Guys & Dolls (2015) as Adelaide and NLTC's Mack and Mabel (2016) as Mabel.
When life gets too busy for a full show schedule, Jeri enjoys singing with the Civic Park Carols Choir and joining in for a sing at Broadway Sessions as often as possible.
Kathryn was born in England and has had a rich upbringing in the world of the arts. She has been in various characters such as tweedledum in Alice in wonderland, Betty Rizzo in Grease and is currently playing Erma in JamaeRaws adaptation of Anything Goes. Kathryn has been singing in Soul Factor Gospel Choir for many years and is currently receiving vocal training by David Gauci.
Recently out of uni with a degree in teaching and the arts, Kathryn has been in musical theatre since a young age. She is currently in the Hills production of Aida and also teaches musical theatre, acting and singing at Starlets SA.
Kristin has always lived and breathed music, but it wasn't until 2009 that she discovered musical theatre. After accompanying her first show she thought, "Hey, this looks like fun!" and auditioned for the next show that came around. The rest, as they say, is history. She has accompanied and music directed, but she truly feels alive on the stage. Favourite roles include Smitty in How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (Marie Clark Musical Theatre 2013), Inga in Young Frankenstein (Marie Clark Musical Theatre 2014), Clara in The Light In The Piazza (Davine Interventionz 2016), Cathy in The Last Five Years (Segue Productions 2017), Elizabeth/Liz/Beth in If/Then (Segue Productions 2018), and Simone in Shane Warne The Musical (Segue Productions 2020). In 2021, she will hopefully have the chance to perform with the Met as Vivienne in Legally Blonde the Musical!
Kristin music directed Heathers the Musical for Segue Productions in September 2019. She is also a founding member of the new Adelaide based theatre company Segue Productions. When she's not at rehearsals or the theatre, she teaches voice and piano, and often dances around the house singing showtunes with her awesome 5 year old.
Lisa has been singing since a very young age and has been receiving singing tuition since the age of 14 – most recently with David Gauci. Lisa has also been a vocal coach & singing teacher for almost 9 years and became involved in Adelaide community theatre around this time. Since then Lisa has gone on to be involved in many shows – some of her favourite roles include Ellie Greenwich in Leader of the Pack (NLTC, 2011), Mrs Potts in Disney's Beauty & the Beast (2011), Motormouth Maybelle in Hairspray (MBM 2012) and most recently Mama Cass Elliott in the South Australian premiere of Flower Children (Davine Interventionz, 2015).
Lisa has also had the opportunity to be involved with performing in the Adelaide Fringe Festival (Michelle & the Gentleman's Club, 2013 & Flower Children, 2015) & several workshops & masterclasses during the Adelaide Cabaret Festival (with Jason Robert Brown, Adam Guettel, Matthew Robinson & Scott Evan Davis). She was also recently in New York this year in July and was lucky enough to have a one on one class with Adam Guettel (lyrical writter for Light in the Piazza). By night she is a performer but by day works as a midwife at the Women's & Children's Hospital, where the song of choice is 'Happy Birthday' for all the new babies she gets to welcome into the world!
Mark is a respected opera, cabaret and concert singer, with a passion for music theatre. He has toured South Australia with State Opera, SINGular productions and the Adelaide Art Orchestra. Mark produced and performed in his own sell out swing show – Mark Oates and the Daniel Brunner Pretty Big Band – for the 2009 and 2011 Adelaide Fringe Festivals. For the Adelaide Festival, Mark sung the roles of Ruffiak in Ligeti’s Le Grande Macabre and Street Singer in Leonard Bernstein’s Mass.
For State Opera SA, Mark premiered the role of “the Cantor” in Astor Piazzolla’s Maria de Buenos Aires, a co-production with Leigh Warren and Dancers which was reprised for the 2011 Brisbane Festival. He also performed Joe in The Station (Howard Blake), and John Styx in Orpheus in the Underworld (Offenbach). Last year Mark performed in the world premiere of the full Philip Glass trilogy for State Opera SA, including the role of Arjuna in Satyagraha. In the two weeks prior to the opening night of Broadway Sessions, Mark will be part of the State Opera SA chorus in Faust and the Verdi Requiem before travelling to Canberra for two concerts with the Canberra Symphony Orchestra.
Mark has also worked with many Adelaide based musical theatre companies. He was an Oscart and Curtain Call winner and Critic’s Circle nominee for his portrayal of Jean Valjean in The G&S Society’s Les Misérables. For The G&S Society Mark has also played the Baker in Into the Woods and the Pirate King in The Pirates of Penzance. He premiered Horton the Elephant in the award winning Seussical the Musical and portrayed Utterson in Jekyll and Hyde for The Hills Musical Company. Other roles include Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar for Northern Light Theatre Company, Archibald Craven in The Secret Garden for both The Therry Dramatic Society and The G&S Society, Enoch Snow in Carousel for Swell Productions/MS Society and was part of the original cast of It’s A Dad thing for SINGular productions. Mark has also played “man” in several productions, including Songs for a New World and I Love you, You’re Perfect, Now Change!
Mitchell first began performing at age 7 in choirs and school productions, before working extensively with youth theatre companies Pelican Productions and Swell Productions. Mitchell performed professionally as a child with Windmill Theatre Company. Mitchell has recently performed leading roles in Spring Awakening (Hills Musical Company - ATG Best Male Performance nom.), Violet (Davine Interventionz) and Thoroughly Modern Millie (G&S Society), and has been featured in She Loves Me (Therry), FAME (Marie Clark), and Oklahoma! (Emma Knights Productions). He has also appeared in song cycles 35mm: A Musical Exhibition (Emma Knights Productions) and Edges (Irregular Productions).
Outside of performing, Mitchell has recently completed his Bachelor of Podiatry (Honours) at UniSA and works as a performing arts teacher with Theatre Bugs and Adelaide Theatre Academy. In 2018 Mitchell made his directorial debut with Adelaide Theatre Academy's acclaimed production of Xanadu Jr.
Robert made his Adelaide theatre debut in 2011, as the brain-damaged Michal in The Pillowman, which earned him an Adelaide Critics Circle nomination for Emerging Artist of the Year. Since then he hasn't stopped gallivanting from stage to stage and has continued to grow as an actor. Favourite roles include Caligula with Red Phoenix, Elephant Man with The Adelaide Repetory Theatre and Jesus in South Coast Choral and Arts Society’s production of Jesus Christ Superstar. Robert’s passion for theatre has also lead him to direct Pippin in 2016 and he hopes to direct again soon.
Theatre aside, some of Robert's favourite things are food, wine and his two British Bulldogs, Howard and Holly.
Roxie began singing at age seven, performing in numerous concerts with Voicestyle Studios. Since 2006, she has embarked on solo performances, performing at such venues as: The Intercontinental Hotel, The Governor Hindmarsh and Adelaide Festival Centre.
Some of her theatre credits include: The Sour Kangaroo (Seussical – Shane Davidson Presents), Brenda (Hairspray – Matt Byrne Media), Erato (Xanadu – Davine Interventionz), Flight by Night Addams (The Addams Family – Matt Byrne Media), Hot Box Dancer (Guys and Dolls – G&S Society) and ensemble for Catch Me If You Can with Marie Clark Theatre Company.
Roxie is also a graduate of AC Arts, where she studied a Diploma of Costume for Performance.
Sandy grew up singing jazz and soul and was intorduced to musical theatre by her Grandpa - she now works for Amnesty International, but still loves to perform whenever she can!
Shay has started to become a familiar face in the musical theatre crowd these days. Most recently he was cast as Leaf Coneybear in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (MCMT 2017) and is enjoying playing two very different characters. Notable performances include The Monster in Young Frankenstein (MCMT 2014), Mr Twimble in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (MCMT 2013) and Cat/Monkey/Björn Ulvaeus in Forbidden Broadway (MCMT 2012).
Tegan has appeared in many amateur and professional shows since the age of nine, her favourite roles include Annie in Annie (Northern Light Theatre Co. – 1997), Lois/Bianca in Kiss Me Kate (MCMT- 2006 and Co Opera SA- 2007), and Ariel in Footloose (Matt Byrne Media – 2006), Holly in The Wedding Singer (Matt Byrne Media – 2008), Lucy T Slut in Avenue Q (Matt Byrne Media – 2011). More recently, Rizzo in Grease (The Met – 2013), Calamity Jane in Calamity Jane (MCMT- 2014), Elle Woods in Legally Blonde (Hills Musical Company – 2014) and Julia in The Wedding Singer (MCMT- 2015). She also co-wrote, choreographed and performed in the sold out season of Villain-Ville: A Musical Exploration of Villainy and Evil in the 2015 Adelaide Fringe Festival.
Tegan has worked around Adelaide as a show girl, promotional model, dancer, children’s show host and suit character performer for Essential Talent and had the opportunity to perform in Singapore with Ricarp in 2007. For five years Tegan worked at the Night Train as a lead performer in their Adult, Kids and touring show, The Rockaholics, and has been the lead singer for Adelaide corporate and Party Band Jungle Jooce for the past 13 years. After completing a Drama degree and a B Ed at Flinders University she is currently a Performing Arts and Special Education teacher.
More recently Tegan played Amneris in the Hills Musical Company's 2017 production of Aida, Princess Fiona in AYT's Shrek, Tracy Samantha Lord in the METs High Society and Mayzie La Bird in NLTC’s Seussical in 2018.
Zak is currently in his third year at the Victorian College of the Arts studying a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Music Theatre). He has been passionate about theatre for as long as he can remember, undertaking both on and offstage roles for a variety of productions. He has completed a Certificate IV in Commercial Dance at Gravity Dance, specialising in tap, hip hop, jazz, contemporary, ballroom and ballet.
Zak’s choreography credits include Singin’ in the Rain JR (2017, TB Arts, Fringe Festival), A Peter Combe Extravaganza! (2017, Something on Saturday) and A Night on Broadway (2014, Glenunga High School). Zak made his professional debut with State Opera of South Australia’s production of Hansel and Gretel. Since then, he has played many memorable roles such as Boq in Wicked the Musical (2016, Matt Byrne Media), Mary Sunshine in Chicago (2017, Emma Knights Productions), The Tinman in The Wiz (2013, GIHS), Danny in Grease (2014, GIHS), Bert in Mary Poppins (2014, GIHS) and also appeared as a featured dancer in Thoroughly Modern Millie (2016, G&S Society of SA).
An avid performer, he has entertained at many events around Adelaide, such as the Adelaide Fringe Festival, the Royal Adelaide Show and Adelaide's Clipsal 500, as well as at private functions, weddings and parties. Zak also works as an entertainer for Nickelodeon and Showtime Attractions and has performed in many children’s shows with them.
Peter Johns (Piano/Musical Director)
Peter is a music director, accompanist, repertoire coach, and the founder of Irregular Productions - one half of the brains behind Broadway Sessions.
He has been a theatre music director since 2005, with a number of his shows winning local awards. Theatre Credits include: (as Music Director) Beautiful, Mamma Mia, Les Misérables, Next to Normal, Violet, The Story Of My Life, Songs For A New World, The Light In The Piazza, You're A Good Man Charlie Brown, Into the Woods, Disney's Beauty and the Beast, [title of show], Edges, Avenue Q, Bring It On, Singing In The Rain, Fiddler on the Roof, Oliver!, Monty Python’s Spamalot, Chicago, Sweeney Todd, The Sound of Music, Urinetown the Musical, Scrooge, The Witches of Eastwick, Little Shop of Horrors, Seussical the Musical, Grease, Once Upon a Mattress; (as Associate Music Director) Kinky Boots; (as Conductor) City of Angels, The Addams Family; (as Associate Conductor) Rent; (as Assistant Music Director) Jesus Christ Superstar, Godspell, South Pacific, Copacabana; as well as playing keyboard in over 25 other productions.
Besides co-producing Broadway Sessions, Irregular Productions has also staged the South Australian premieres of Songs for a New World, [title of show] and Edges, as well as a new production of Godspell (with Lydian Productions).
Peter is also the music director for Civic Park Carols, Australia's second-largest candlelight carols event, working with some of Adelaide’s finest musician’s and performers, as well as artists such as Justine Clarke, Guy Sebastian, Rachel Beck, and Jimmy Giggle.
Max Ziliotto (Drums/Percussion)
Max has been playing percussion for 15 years, and has been involved in numerous music performance groups throughout that time. Attending Marryatville High School 2006-2010, and being a part of the Raiders Drum Corps since 2007, he learned performance etiquette pretty quickly, and grew comfortable performing in front of people. Max participated in the Big Band program at high school, and as such was able to attend Generations in Jazz multiple times. His drumkit playing further improved after high school where, during his studies for his Bachelor of Music (Percussion), he was a part of the Jazz SA Youth Superbands. While studying his Bachelors, Max competed in and won First Place in the 2011 MSO Snare Competition.
Musical theatre has been part of his life since 2009, and as luck would have it, Max has been working with Peter Johns since his very first show! Productions Max has been involved in include: Sweeney Todd, Fame, Spamalot, Beauty and the Beast, Oliver!, Annie, The Full Monty, You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, Violet, Wicked, Bring It On!, Edges, Beautiful, Mamma Mia, and Les Miserables.
Outside of music, Max has developed a passion for gridiron, and plays for the Port Adelaide Spartans. He is also a personal trainer, and his love for craft beers is pretty strong!
Louis Cann (Bass)
Louis has been playing both double bass and bass guitar as long as he can remember. Beginning with lessons at the age of 7, he quickly developed his skills and decided that music was the career for him. Louis began playing for Musical Theatre shows in 2011, with the Northern Lights Theatre Company’s production of Beauty and the Beast, which coincidentally, was the beginning of a long-standing working relationship with Musical Director, Peter Johns! Since, Louis has played for many theatre companies around Adelaide, including Adelaide Youth Theatre, Lydian Productions, Pelican Productions, Davine Productions, Irregular Productions, Marie Clarke Musical Theatre, The Gilbert & Sullivan Society of South Australia, and Hills Musical Company. Some of his favourite shows to play for have been In the Heights, for Pelican Productions in 2019, and Beautiful: The Carol King Musical, for Davine Productions in 2020. In 2018, Louis had the privilege of playing in the pit for the Gordon Frost Organisation’s touring production of The Wizard of Oz. Louis graduated from the Elder Conservatorium of Music in 2016, with a Bachelor of Music (Classical Performance.) That same year, he began performing as a casual member of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra - some of his favourite performances include Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in Concert at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, and Last Night of the Proms at the Adelaide Festival Centre.
