Meet the Broadway Sessions Team

Discover a little bit more about each person who contributes to Broadway Sessions, both on the scene and behind the scenes! Everyone gives their time to make Broadway Sessions a success, and we couldn’t put on our event month after month without the contributions each and every team member makes.

Mark Oates: Associate Producer | Hosting Team

Scott Lorien: Executive Producer | Technical Director

Scott is a full-time theatre technical director and venue manager based in Adelaide, and enjoys combining the many elements of theatrical design work to create engaging and innovative interpretations of dramatic works both old and new. Having a background in IT, creative design, and technical theatre, Scott likes to push boundaries when it comes to utilising technology in a production.

Most recent credits for both Lighting & Sound Design and FOH Sound Engineer roles include A Midsummer Night’s Dream (2024), Distopia (2024), Hairspray Jr (2024), Matilda (2023), Disney’s The Lion King Jr (2023), Suessical Jr (2023), Aladdin Jr (2023), Amelia Bradshaw Turns Eight (2023), The Pirates of Penzance Jr (2022), Suessical (2022), Steel Magnolias (2020) and Metamorphoses (2019). Scott is the technical director and a founding executive co-producer of Broadway Sessions: Adelaide’s monthly musical theatre performance and open mic night.

Brad Tucker: Technical Assistant

Brad studied a Bachelor of Music (Music Education) with a major in Classical Voice. He was thrilled to discover musical theatre songs were actually in English and has stuck to the style ever since. Since graduating, Brad's day job is teaching high school Music and Drama, causing him to turn to amateur theatre to experience some actual singing and acting. You may have seen him on stage in the ensemble of Violet (2017), Phantom of the Opera (G&S), Miss Saigon (The MET), and Kinky Boots (G&S) playing the role of "generic tall white guy". Brad joined the Broadway Sessions team as Scott's replacement arms for lighting, despite the ignored reminders that he is red/green colourblind and should not be trusted with lighting or power cables. [Internal note: Fire Brad?] Regardless, Brad is thrilled to be a new addition to the Broadway Sessions team as the honorary "Hey, can you get this thing from the tall shelf?" guy.

Casmira Lorien: Social Media Manager | Hosting Team

Casmira loves stories, diverse and supportive communities, wigs, glitter, and belting as a way of dealing with too many emotions. Luckily, she found theatre!
Highlights have included performing the role of ‘Violet’ in Davine Productions’ Violet (for which she won the TASA award for Best Female Performance 2017) and 'Fantine' in the G&S Society's production of Les Misérables (for which she was nominated for a Curtain Call: Best Female Performance 2018).

In 2019 Casmira played nine characters in Judge Jackie: Disorder in the Court with Davine Productions (which won Best Ensemble and Best Musical at the 2019 Curtain Call Awards) and Lynette ‘Squeaky’ Fromme in Assassins for Hills Musical Company.

Casmira’s professional credits include performing in The Teddy Bears Picnic for The Garden of Unearthly Delights, directing and performing in several children’s theatre productions for the Something On Saturday Program with Adelaide Festival Centre, and providing the voice for ‘Poppy Platypus’ in Lupa Entertainment’s popular app for children: Hip Hop Kangaroo and Friends.

Most recently he premiered in Adelaide the role of Fabrizio for Davine Interventionz's 2016 Adelaide Fringe Show, The Light In The Piazza.

Aside from musical theatre, Lindsay has a keen passion for cabaret, having written, co-produced and performed at numerous cabaret events over the years. Stepping out side his usual genre, Lindsay played the role of Jay Gatsby in The Great Gatsby (old sport), produced by Independent Theatre.

Louis Cann: Musician

Louis has been playing both double bass and bass guitar as long as he can remember. Beginning with lessons at the age of 7, he quickly developed his skills and decided that music was the career for him. Louis began playing for Musical Theatre shows in 2011, with the Northern Lights Theatre Company’s production of Beauty and the Beast, which coincidentally, was the beginning of a long-standing working relationship with Musical Director, Peter Johns! Since, Louis has played for many theatre companies around Adelaide, including Adelaide Youth Theatre, Lydian Productions, Pelican Productions, Davine Productions, Irregular Productions, Marie Clarke Musical Theatre, The Gilbert & Sullivan Society of South Australia, and Hills Musical Company. Some of his favourite shows to play for have been In the Heights, for Pelican Productions in 2019, and Beautiful: The Carol King Musical, for Davine Productions in 2020. In 2018, Louis had the privilege of playing in the pit for the Gordon Frost Organisation’s touring production of The Wizard of Oz. Louis graduated from the Elder Conservatorium of Music in 2016, with a Bachelor of Music (Classical Performance.) That same year, he began performing as a casual member of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra - some of his favourite performances include Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in Concert at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, and Last Night of the Proms at the Adelaide Festival Centre.

Max Ziliotto: Musician

Max has been playing percussion for 15 years, and has been involved in numerous music performance groups throughout that time. Attending Marryatville High School 2006-2010, and being a part of the Raiders Drum Corps since 2007, he learned performance etiquette pretty quickly, and grew comfortable performing in front of people. Max participated in the Big Band program at high school, and as such was able to attend Generations in Jazz multiple times. His drumkit playing further improved after high school where, during his studies for his Bachelor of Music (Percussion), he was a part of the Jazz SA Youth Superbands. While studying his Bachelors, Max competed in and won First Place in the 2011 MSO Snare Competition.

Musical theatre has been part of his life since 2009, and as luck would have it, Max has been working with Peter Johns since his very first show! Productions Max has been involved in include: Sweeney Todd, Fame, Spamalot, Beauty and the Beast, Oliver!, Annie, The Full Monty, You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, Violet, Wicked, Bring It On!, Edges, Beautiful, Mamma Mia, and Les Miserables.

Outside of music, Max has developed a passion for gridiron, and plays for the Port Adelaide Spartans. He is also a personal trainer, and his love for craft beers is pretty strong!

Tim Bates: Photographer

Tim is an engineer, stage manager, lighting designer and sometimes photographer. He can usually be found wearing black and/or standing on a ladder. He wandered into the first ever Broadway Sessions, asked to have a play with Scott’s fancy camera, and has been taking the photos almost every month since. In addition to Scott’s camera, he also has Scott’s lighting design and Scott’s photo editing to thank for the high quality of the Sessions photos.

Past show highlights include building custom electronic lighting effects for Next to Normal (Six Foot Something) and Hansel and Gretel (Elder Conservatorium), stage managing Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera (G&S Society), and lighting design for Spring Awakening (Hills Musical Company) and Kinky Boots (G&S).

His favourite things about the Adelaide music theatre community are all the weird and wonderful creative people he gets to hang out with, and the sense of shared achievement at the end of an opening night performance. He also loves it when people use his photos on social media, so please use #broadwaysessions when you do so he can see!
