June Session: ROBBED!

27 Sunday June 2021
When: 6:30pm Where: Norwood Live, Norwood Hotel Tickets: $15-20

About this Session

Award ceremonies always seem to stir up controversy. Everyone seems to be an expert, or at the very least has an opinion. It seems like there’s always someone who wasn’t nominated, or, someone who was nominated didn’t win and clearly should have.

Two years ago we had our first Tony’s Session where we celebrated shows that won the Tony for either Best Musical or Revival. Last year we honoured the writers and shows that won Best Original Score.

This year we are featuring songs from shows that were robbed of a nomination or a win. It’s the performer’s chance to have a say; to say their piece, share an opinion, or try to convince the audience they are right – Matilda losing Best Original Score to Kinky Boots, for example… can we get an amen!?

You can find who was nominated and won in each of these categories here:
Best Musical
Best Revival (1977-1993)
Best Revival (1994-2020)
Best Original Scoreface

Doors are open at 5:45pm. Food and beverages are available from the bar.

As there are limited seats available due to COVID restrictions, you will be able to join us in person, OR stream it from the comfort of your home!

Tickets to be in the audience go on sale on Saturday 19 June. Unfortunately, you are unable to book a whole table – however the Broadway Sessions team will be allocating seats so you can sit with your family and friends. Tickets bought under the same name will automatically be seated together. If you have any other seating requests, please email them to [email protected] by 5pm on Wednesday 23 June. We may not be able to accommodate any requests after this time.

Tickets to watch the live stream from home will also be available from the tickets page.

With that being her peak, she is hoping to surpass it now over a decade later. Early experiences with school choir and singing opportunities fostered a love for the ol’ razzle dazzle, a love which was supplemented by a penchant for being the centre of attention and an adoration for the heavy exposition only musical theatre can provide. Being an alto in a soprano world (by SA’s Festival of Music standards, anyway) found her developing a niche playing male roles – or, at the very least, taking the male parts in duets in her best friend’s car.

By day, Victoria is a PhD student at the University of South Australia, but by night, she aspires to moonlight as an almost-in-tune, maybe-a-little-funny performer.
